Shopping with Buy.com and Facebook through a Garage Sale
Most people don’t realize it, but Buy.com is more of an integrated selling platform than people think. In addition to being one of the few retail sites to advertise on media channels like television, Buy.com also integrates products from other retailers in their listings. This an excellent integration built on the same success that made Amazon so big…if you don’t have it in stock, then find a way to sell it anyway.
Opening another new channel for selling, Buy.com has also teamed up with Facebook to offer a new selling feature, Garage Sale. Garage Sale lets Facebook users sell items eBay style,by listing the items and using Buy.com’s shopping cart to checkout. The great thing for sellers is no listing fees, only a 5% commission.
This latest effort to monetize a social networking site opens a unique opportunity, but also shows Buy.com is not done innovating.
