Quick Tip: Cateogorization on Shopping Comparison Engines
Categorization is a key component in making sure products get displayed correctly, and in most cases, making sure the cost per click is correct. After-all, you don’t want to spend a $1.00 per click trying to sell your Samsung headset in the LCD Television category because your product file was misread.
Even if you are feeding with the engine’s categories in the product file, make it a point to check the categorization in the UI of the shopping comparison engine every 2 months. The shopping comparison engines have a way of taking products and assigning them to different categories over time. This can usually be quickly adjusted by an account manager at the engine. Usually, quickly eyeballing the category and corresponding product count list for you account on most engines will give you an idea if your store has items showing in the wrong location. Not only will this pull down conversion rates, but it will push down your ROAS. This five minute investment could save thousands across time.
